Measures for Promoting Metaverse Innovation and Development from Guangzhou’s Huangpu District and Guangzhou High-tech Zone

On 6 April 2022, Guangzhou’s Huangpu District and Guangzhou High-tech Zone held a press conference on the innovation and development of Metaverse, and officially released the "Measures for Promoting Metaverse Innovation and Development". This policy is the first special support policy for Metaverse in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), focus on “digital twins”, human-computer interaction, AR/VR/MR (virtual reality/augmented reality/mixed reality) and other fields, promote the industrialization and large-scale application of Metaverse-related technologies, management, and business models, and cultivate new industrial business and new business model.

Previously, Guangdong Province clearly proposed to closely link the development of the digital economy with the construction of the GBA to form a new driving force for economic development. In this context, Huangpu District and Guangzhou High-tech Zone, with strong industrial base and vigorous technological innovation, took the lead in introducing Metaverse-related support policies, which will be one step ahead in the new round of technological and industrial changes, and will also contribute to the province's yuan Industrial development in the space field provides pilot experience and leading demonstrations.
