The Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China Leading Group for Development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has issued a notice on opinions on supporting social forces to participate in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and construction of pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics on 31 March 2020. The opinion strongly supports market participants from 9 major areas to participate in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the leading demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics (also known as “dual zones”). Fields include deepening reform and opening up, technological innovation, infrastructure interconnection construction, strategic emerging industries, financial innovation, international and Hong Kong and Macao professional services, etc. Among them, the opinions put forward support to study the abolition of long-distance and roaming charges for mobile phones across Shenzhen-Hong Kong and Shenzhen-Macao, encourage market players to make full use of the “dual zones” policy to provide cross-border cooperation, space and financial support and encourage domestic and foreign financial institutions to participate in the interconnection of the financial markets in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao.
