Notice on Public Consultation on "Implementation Suggestions on Dongguan Municipal People's Government on Carrying out the Strategic Development of the Greater Bay Area"
The Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau has carried out a public consultation on "Implementation Suggestions on Dongguan Municipal People's Government on Carrying out the Strategic Development of the Greater Bay Area" on 24 October 2018. The Implementation Suggestions proposed measures to attract Hong Kong and Macao talents to start-up businesses in Dongguan, and offered solutions to housing problems.
Abstract
In line with the Guangdong Province's aim to achieve the "Four Pioneering Goals", Dongguan is actively pursuing strategic development in the Greater Bay Area. In particular, the Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau has carried out a public consultation on "Implementation Suggestions on Dongguan Municipal People's Government on Carrying out the Strategic Development of the Greater Bay Area" on 24 October 2018.
The public consultation is in accordance with President Xi's vision in the 19th CPC National Congress, which aims to fully grasp the opportunities within the Greater Bay Area, and boost cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
Short-term objectives
By 2020, the initial objectives are to develop original innovation, technological innovation, industrial transformation, comprehensive development of the enterprise value-chain in Dongguan. Total R&D investment will take up to 2.8% of GDP, technological advancement would increase by more than 60%, the invention patent ownership per ten thousand people would reach 35, and the strategic new production increase would take up to 16% of GDP.
Long-term objectives
By 2025, total R&D investment would take up to 3% of GDP. Dongguan aims to be one of the leading cities in the country in terms of innovation investment, application, achievement and environment, and become an influential world-class city in hi-tech innovation.
